Shapes

During the first two weeks of this term we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes.

We have been learning about their attributes (sides, edges, corners, faces, vertices). We used the iPads to take photos of the shapes we could see around our school.

Weaving

On Friday we worked hard to create a weaved pattern with paper. It was very tricky for some of us but we persevered with it and tried our hardest.

Welcome to Room 22 2016

Hello Room 22 family and friends,

Sorry we have been so busy learning we have not posted anything on our blog this year.

Today we have been busy creating our under the sea creatures for art. You will be able to see the finished product in our classroom.

A group of us have been working very hard on a 250 piece puzzle that took us 2 days to complete. We have been learning to work together, share, discuss and solve problems together.

Who is Pablo Picasso ?

Today we researched who Pablo Picaso was and looked at some of his work.

Here are some of the things we found out.

Place value.. what does it look like

Today in mathematics a group were looking at how to multiply two digit numbers using place value.

First we used materials to see what that equation looked like and what the expected outcome would be. We then broke out materials into tens and ones to look at how we could multiply these in two steps.

Group Problem Solving - Maths

Maths on a Friday is mixed group problem solving. This is where the students work with a variety of others to answer a maths problem.

The skills again relate back to group work and they are applying their maths skills in a different way.
Last week they were working on sharing their ideas and strategies to answer the problem.
